What Is ERCES?
Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES), often called a public-safety BDA system, improves in-building radio coverage for first responders. The system helps firefighters, police, EMS, and other emergency personnel maintain reliable two-way radio communication in areas where a building’s construction weakens outside radio signals.
Why Is It Needed?
Materials such as concrete, steel, low-E glass, and underground construction can create radio dead zones inside a facility. During an emergency, unreliable communication can delay response, limit coordination, and put responders and occupants at risk. Many jurisdictions require a radio-coverage test during construction or occupancy review; if the building does not meet the required coverage level, an ERCES may be required by the AHJ.
How We Help

Coordinate with the AHJ, radio-system owner, and other project stakeholders.
Perform or coordinate radio coverage testing and site evaluation.
Design the ERCES/BDA system around the building, required frequencies, and jurisdiction requirements.
